My iPod Classic restore problem

Hiya,

My iPod Classic needs to be restored but when I connect to my computer it will not connect to iTunes and I get the below image on my iPod.

What can I do to get iTunes to recognise my iPod?

Have you tried resetting ?

To reset iPod classic:

  1. 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
  2. 2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. (from iPod Classic manual)

You can get more info here on restoring it and other troubleshooting. https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/0/MA630/en_US/iPod_classic_120GB_en.pdf

Hiya,

Thanks for this. Unfortunately, all that works is the reset function. Once the apple logo appears no other function works. I tried disc mode and diagnostic mode. I have also tried to format the disc through file explorer but it just freezes!!! Then after 5 to 10 minutes I get a pop-up box that tells me to insert a disc into the drive!!!!

Any other option would be greatly appreciated.
