I Am installing Mac OS X Tiger on a iMac G5 with a 1.6 GHz PowerPC G5 and 1GB Of RAM it's taking forever to identify the keyboard I've followed all the steps but its not working! The keyboard is a Apple wired keyboard model no A1048

Please note: 10.4(.0), (April 29, 2005), 10.4.3 (October 31, 2005), 10.4.6 (April 3, 2006) were all retail releases that did not say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM. Using this tip, identify the age of your iMac:

And make sure your 10.4 installer disc you used is not older than the Mac in question.
Also make sure the disc does not say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM, unless you know for certain it is the installer disc that came with the Mac.
If the Mac is older than one of the Tiger releases, try to get a tiger retail disc as shown on this tip that is newer:

If that is not the problem do you have anything besides a mouse connected to your Mac along with the keyboard? If you do, remove that before you try to boot.
If that is not the problem, try booting in safe mode (holding the shift key at startup).

If it is still problematic, let us know which iMac G5 you have and tell us how far along you come on the startup screen.
