I upgraded to El Capitan (version 10.11.3) on my MacBook Air, and since then - whenever using Safari, bookmarks pops up to the left when moving the mouse to the left. I find this extremely irritating. How do I get rid of it?

Mine doesn't do that on a Mini desktop, and I can't find any settings that offer that capability.
Perhaps it is a Gesture on the Trackpad or something related to it being more of a mobile device.
Or, maybe an extension you installed.
You might try in a Macbook Air forum if this is a function of it being a mobile device.
Are you using Safari in full screen mode? If so, the bookmarks bar will slide out from the left. To get rid of this, either take Safari out of full screen mode or move your Dock to the left side of your screen in System Preferences. Otherwise, there's no way to stop that.

I thought that might be it, but I went to full screen and couldn't make it happen.
I discovered that having my Safari window on the right monitor made it almost impossible to get the bookmarks to pop out. Without going very slowly, I couldn't make my mouse stop at the left edge of the Safari window.
