How do I make folders appear first in Finder
In my Finder list, I would like the folders to appear before documents. I have files arranged by Kind.
I am on an iMac 5k Retina with El Capitan.

I have some folders set to be arranged by Kind, and if those folders have folders within them, they appear first before pictures, documents, or music files. Is this not happening for you? Can you provide a screenshot of how it looks?
If you're referring to a current view in the right pane as All My Files, you can change that in Finder / Preferences. Use the dropdown and select your home folder. This will show your home folder's contents in the right pane.
When arranging by Kind, the order is Documents, Folders, Presentations, etc. I would like Folders, Documents, Presentations, etc. Folders first. This is the case in all my folders that I arrange by Kind.
I'd like an answer to this as well, please. Anyone?
You'll need a third-party hack like xtrafinder, PathFinder, or TotalFinder to get that option. I don't know which of the three either still works with El Capitan or offers the feature you seek.
The Mac OS has never offered that option.
Thanks for the reply. I will pass. Don't need to do what my Mac doesn't naturally do on its own. I am good.
