Feb 17, 2016 3:26 PM in response to jeffd55by Owlxi,Thanks for the response Jeff. Unfortunately that didn't work or help.
The issue seems to affect all iTunes users. So it seems to be something w Apple. Two friends w windows machines tried downloading different movie trailers and encounter the same error. If you try to download a trailer (any trailer) from iTunes, let me know if you get the same error.
Thanks again!

If you are still having difficulties in viewing trailers, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action.
Cheers

Mar 11, 2016 5:31 PM in response to Owlxiby SpiritHawk7,★HelpfuliTunes still hasn't fixed this issue. I'm using Windows 10 on an HP Envy x360 m6 Convertible touchscreen laptop. It doesn't matter what device I'm on, this current one, my old HP laptop, my dad's PC, using any variant of OS Win 7, 8.1, 10, I can't download trailers from iTunes without receiving Error 204.
I'm glad that I finally found someone addressing this problem. I've been having it for several months, almost half a year it seems as it started way before the turn of the new year. I really like downloading the HD trailers for movies that I really like, but I can't. I get this Error 204 all the time now which is extremely unfourtunate as these trailers are not available for download indefinitely.
Not only have I encountered the Error 204, but I've also encountered a myriad of other problems in downloading trailers from iTunes as well.
Once the movie is in the theater, the option to download them from the theatrical trailers area is removed. Lucky, I found a way around this temporarily by going in the iTunes movie area to find tickets (through iTunes) at my local theater for that same movie, but instead of buying tickets, I click on the movie's title link to link me back to where it is/was in iTunes theatrical section. (It's like getting around a closed door. However, this method only works if my theater is currently showing the movie. Even then, sometime not all the trailers and clips are present in this area like they are in the theatrical movie section.) Going straight to the movie using the search function does not work, as that takes you to the movie in the movie store, not the theatrical trailer area. In the movie section the ability to download any trailers is completely removed, all you can do is watch the trailers and purchase the movie itself.
A couple months ago I was for a brief moment able to download some trailers from the theatrical trailer section (not all, some gave me the 204), but I had major difficulties with them. I would put a whole bunch in my queue to download and for some reason it would error on me at some point within the first download, closing out my entire iTunes browser, making me restart and have to find and queue all the trailers again. I found that if I had too many in the queue, it would crash. I could only have about 3-5 in my queue safely, which was annoying as I had to babysit the downloads the entire time to make sure it didn't crash and to constantly add more to my queue. I couldn't just leave to do other stuff and let it download on its own. If it didn't crash from too many in the queue, I then had to be really careful about clicking the back arrow when going back into the trailer section in order to click on another movie to download its trailers, as that would cause it to crash again. As terrible as all this was, I'd still prefer jumping through hoops to eventually download the trailer than to not have the option at all with Error 204.
I have zero problem viewing the trailers in the theatrical trailers section, they all start to play when I click to download the trailer and continue to play during and after when Error 204 instantly pops up. This confuses me as I originally assumed that it was a store error with the file as a whole. It's perplexing that I can stream the trailers, just not download them. Streaming still transfers the data to your device temporarily, just not permanently like a download.
I really hope this clears up in the next almost 2 full weeks as I really want to get the BvS trailers before it comes out on March 24th.

Mar 12, 2016 8:20 AM in response to SpiritHawk7by Owlxi,Hey there, Spirit Hawk,
thanks for the response. i even bought a new macbook air last week, needed new one, and it got this error.
i need the trailers for my clients (theatre chain), so here's my languorous work around:
on web browser go to trailers.apple.com play your trailer in the HD setting you want. right click on it, View Element. use Find feature to look for every reference of trailer's title in the code, You'll eventually find its .m4v or .mov direct link. Copy it. Open Quicktime. and use Open Location. paste the URL in there (however if it's an .m4v, change to .mov), Quicktime will begin playing the trailer. Then just SAVE the file and it will download.
Pain in the arse but necessary for me unfortunately.

Mar 12, 2016 8:29 AM in response to SpiritHawk7by Owlxi,PS for example the Batman Supes trailer link is http://movietrailers.apple.com/movies/wb/batmanvsuperman/batmanvssuperman-us-tlr 4_720p.mov punch that into Quicktime and you'll see it. Click Save and it will download.

Mar 15, 2016 1:41 PM in response to Owlxiby SpiritHawk7,Thank you for trying to help, but none of your solution works for me due to our two different OS. I'm on Win 10 and you're on a Mac. For me, I just downloaded QuickTime 7.7.9 and it say's "Open URL" instead of "Open Location. Also, on Chrome, my browser says "Inspect" or "View Source", not "View Element". Small changes that I can figure out easily.
What I can't get around out is that from my browser, it's impossible for me to find the url for the video because it doesn't show up in the page's source code. When I try to use the one that you provided for me that's already modified for putting into QuickTime -> Open URL, I receive an error code: Error -43: a file could no be found (batmanvssuperman-us-tlr4_720p.mov)

Mar 16, 2016 9:52 AM in response to SpiritHawk7by Owlxi,I'm sorry to hear it didn't work for you. I just tried on Chrome and right-clicked "Inspect" on the trailer while it was playing. I did a FIND for "idol" (using the film The Idol) and it was the 12th Idol down the code page and saw this link http://movietrailers.apple.com/movies/independent/theidol/theidol-tlr1_a720p.m4v #t=2.571859 I then cut it down and changed it to mov (along with removing the letter a before the 720, for some reason you have to do that too, and got http://movietrailers.apple.com/movies/independent/theidol/theidol-tlr1_720p.mov and yes, I do have a mac, opened quicktime and Open Location (Open URL for you), pasted that url in and it began playing the trailer.
I wonder if you click that second link in a web browser does it begin to play? If you right click on that video will the option to save appear for you?
