Q: iPhone 6s BRICKED after chaging date to 1970.
Hi everybody, there is a fake ad (that I now know, but did not at the time). It says that if you change your iPhone's date back to January 1, 1970 and restart it,
that it will receive a cool, retro looking overlay. Here's the ad:
It looks really convincing, and I figured, what harm can just changing the date do? Well I was fooled as it seems many others have been on other internet forums. And when I rebooted (or tried to!), the iPhone just went into an endless power cycle, attempting to start up for a few minutes, then shutting off again. EVERYONE, DO NOT BE TRICKED INTO TRYING THIS AND PLEASE DO NOT TRY IT!!!! My phone is now effectively bricked and am planning on bringing it into an apple store in the next day or two. I just wanted to open up this forum for any other fixes that people have found and also just warn others of the damaging results this date change can bring. AGAIN, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR IPHONE'S DATE BACK TO JANUARY 1, 1970.
iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1
