From what I gather, there's an issue notification alert sounds not playing for some apps on your iPhon 6. Try taking a look at the article linked below which provides some additional troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue.

If you don't see notifications for a specific app
To get notifications, you need to be connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. If you’re not getting notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
- Make sure that the app supports notifications. Go to Settings > Notifications, select the app, and make sure that Notifications are turned on.
- Make sure that you’re signed in to your Apple ID on your iOS device. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and enter your Apple ID and password.
- Make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and tap Manual if it's turned on.
- If you’ve recently installed an app or restored from a backup, open the app to start getting notifications.
If the issue persists, you can try restoring your iPhone to rule out any potential issues with iOS as shown here:

Feb 18, 2016 8:41 AM in response to Jason Lby 82football84,thank you very much for this help. I've done all the things you've mentioned. By reset do you mean:
**reset all settings?
**erase all content and settings?
**reset network settings?
Or...?
Again, it is really weird. For example: I had forever the alert sound working on the CNBC app. Now, the alert always shows but never the sound and the sound is checked to work etc.

Feb 23, 2016 6:56 AM in response to Jason Lby 82football84,I did "reset all settings" yesterday but the problem is still not solved. Alert sounds work on some apps and not others. Alert sounds that were working on some apps previously are still not working now. I still keep thinking I inadvertently clicked "mute" somewhere in my phone for those alerts but just can't find it...thoughts?
