Is it possible to bypass restrictions password?

My son has somehow inadvertently set a restrictions password on his iPhone. We have tried all of possible combination of passcode that it could be to no luck. Of course without the password he is unable to delete apps or make in-app purchases. Is there someway that I can gain access to his phone? I have read that it may be possible to resolve the issue by taking the phone into the apple store. If this is the case, do they require the account holder present? He is set up on my mother-in-law's account, which really isn't an issue but I will need her to come in to town to make it happen. I can schedule that without a problem but if there is another way to do it, I am open for suggestions.

TIA!

Sorry, but there is no way around the Restrictions passcode. You will have to erase the device and set it up as new, or set it up using a backup made prior to the time the Restrictions passcode was put on the device. If you end up having to set it up as new, all of the purchased media can be re-sync'd or redownloaded, and anything that is currently set up on iCloud (like Contacts, Messages, Notes, etc.) will be restored once the iCloud account is signed back on.

To erase the device go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings

To restore from an iCloud backup made before the Restrictions passcode was put on:

SET UP NEW DEVICE FROM BACKUP - select the iCloud backup from the date that would be before the passcode fiasco

Best of luck,
