Q: Cannot publish with iWeb

I have been trying to publish my iweb site and my password is not recognised anymore!!!! Is the software completely dead now

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    Same problem here since mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) did not check before.

     

    Apparently as MobileMe was changed to iCloud and the Drive and other MobileMe services were closed, the iWeb dose not work (if you have it activated since it was woking you might have a chance for it to work if not .......)

     

    I you reinstall it will not work (tried on 10.4 / 10.5 (G5 unit) and 10.6 / 10.7 /....10.11 will not work on any of them ) 

     

    Tried with new and old Apple ID ( old one is @me.com version - still will not work )

     

    So i guess it is dead

    iWeb was designed to publish to MobileMe, but as you know this has been closed since 2012. However there is nothing to stop you publishing to your own server, though iWeb's built-in publishing system is now broken by system updates. You can still publish manually.

     

    From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.

     

    You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server. Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.

     

    Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this).

     

    You might want to consider moving to a modern program, though you will have to recreate your site from scratch as nothing can import iWeb's files. Everweb is a good choice, being designed to be like iWeb but with better facilities.
