Q: My battery is 100% dead/non functional, and I have to keep the MacBook (Air, 2013) plugged in via AC adapter. What would happen if I just removed the battery altogether? I'm just curious--I've already ordered replacement, but I'm curious what would happen

It would run, but the CPU will be hotter.

Depending on your Mac it is not really simple to remove the battery.

If there are no issues, I would wait a few days for the replacement to arrive and built-in.

I hope you did order the real thing, most oem batteries are worse than a dead battery. Your mac is worth it.
