Q: iPad won't sync with iTunes error -54

OK, so I'e spent a ridiculus amount of time getting my iTunes accept my new iPad mini, but this morning when I tried to sync it I get an unknown error message -54. can anyone give me any help please? Beginning to wish I'd stuck to original plan of getting a tablet as I know how they work, are least.
