Pages in Mac Family Tree 7

Hello

I am new to I mac and have just installed Mac Family tree 7, but I have a probleme I seem to be unable to add pages documents to a person in the tree . When I click add media it takes me to Finder but all pages are greyed out.

But if I go to Finder on its own they are all ok and opens . I can add JPG files no problem.

All the files have been tranfered from Windows word docx , wondered if anybody can help .

Kind Regards

Yes the documents are as files from word documents in windows.

I have all my family tree files under Family files . When I go to a person i;e Joe Blogg click add media and if it is a photo JPG and head for the file it adds the file no problem at all.

If I want to add notes i;e old docx from word and click add media as before and in finders all docx are greyed out and I can not add them.

if I log out from mac Family Tree and go back in to finder the files are Not greyed out and opens ok. I used Family Historian before I moved to Mac and al notes and photos added with no problems at all.

Export your Pages documents to PDFs and try attaching those.

Pages is an extremely incompatible and inconsistent minor format. Do not expect other Apps to recognise its documents.

From what you initially said, you were talking about Pages documents and you have posted this in the Pages forum, but the next post you say they are Word .doc files, so I am uncertain which it is and as Illaass says, this is really for the Mac Family Tree support to clarify.

I am sorry over the confusion , all my family tree files was imported to iMac as docs all worked well and when I looked at a file (as docs) it changed to pages as I closed it , again I have no problem with that as I am trying not to install windows.

The problem I had was when I tried to add the media to my Mac tree it did not accept any files it was all greyed out in Finder.

When I started Finder with mac tree closed it was all as it should be.

I tried export to PDF still greyed out and only option I had was add image from file and photos sound etc. (No PDF choice) It was not until you said about PDF I started to think .

I did shut Mac tree down did a shut down on the I iMac and restarted and open Mac Tree and there to my delight was the choice for PDF. And it seems to work now one PDF file succsesfully inserted to the tree.

Once again sorry for the confusion and thanks for all your help
