You should see the chipset in the enclosure as well as the HD itself

Is the drive powered by the USB bus?
Do lights lit on the drive?
Can you hear/feel the drive spinning?
Have you tried other USB ports?
Another cable?
Do the USB ports work for other drives?
Is the problem drive since on another computer?

Thank you for the reply! I've tried everything (connecting with other cables and to different computers), nothing seemed to work, and it was making worrying noises every time i would reconnect it, so i went got it replaced, because, as i said the data was not that important. Just couldn't figure out how to delete the post
