Q: Apple won't allow me to listen to my own personal music

I have thousands of songs in my computers iTunes library which I have imported from my computer files. I used the three-month trial of Apple music. But now, when I try to play the same music that I imported myself, it doesn't allow me to because I'm not subscribed to "apple match." This is ridiculous, these are songs I have the files for but Apple won't play them. This is extremely inconvenient because there are albums which aren't on Apple Music or Spotify, so I would like to have them imported to my phone, with no streaming. Apple won't let me do so.

I'm not some middle-aged, computer-illiterate person either. I'm 18 and myself and everyone I've talked to has so many grudges held against Apple and how complicated and capitalistic they make everything despite trying to be streamlined and modern. Troubleshooting shouldn't be this difficult.
