Q: Motion 5 lower 3rd appearing pixelated in FCP7

Hi,

We exported lower 3rd with alpha channel in Prores 4444 with color+alpha and premultiphy alpha settings. It looks fine in Motion 5. But appears pixelated when imported into FCP7

Thanks so much for your help.

    FCP7 doesn't support ProRes 4444.

FCP7 most certainly does support ProRes 4444.

You probably should have unselected the premultiply option before exporting but that can probably be fixed in FCP, you just have to tell it what kind of alpha channel it is. If I remember, you can do that by control-clicking on the clip and select Item Properties > Format. Find the section on alpha and set it to Black (or White depending on the background color used when premultiplying). If that doesn't work, export it again and unselect the premulitply option (for a "straight" alpha.)

You also need to make sure that the export render settings are adjusted to what you want unless all your render settings for Motion's canvas are set to Best.
