Q: 2 ATV 4th gens won't stay connected to wifi

We have 2 ATV 4th Gen.  neither one will maintain an internet connection.  It's become impossible to stream anything for more that 2 -3 min at a time without losing connection.  We have a roku and ATV 2nd generation that are working fine.  We've tried rebooting both and 2 different routers.  There is no ethernet connection close to where these devices are located.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Distance between rputer and ATV will impact performance. Other devices working doesn't rule out a network issue. Get a diagnostics report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks. Test on another network

try turning off HDMI-CEC on your tv (what makes turning the tv on and off with the apple remote possible).

i had the same problem but turning off 'simplink' on my LG-tv solved the problem.

let me know if it helps?

My sister has a 2 story house. Router is upstairs and Apple tv 3 is downstairs and it just worked, lol.

Got her the 4. Just replaced the 3 with the 4. Took forever for just the UI to load.

Turns out, her router was old, replaced it with (forgot name). Put the 4 on the 5G line.

It is now faster than instant.
