Q: MacBook won't locate wifi

I have an early 2011 (maybe late 2010) Macbook. I believe it's the last model they made of the white ones. Anywho, for some reason, the computer won't locate ANY wifi networks, and it won't connect if I manually type in the name of the netowrk and its password. This computer is well past the free Applecare support so I'd like to ask around here before paying to get the issue looked at. Is there any reason why this might be happening? It constantly shows the spinning circle of lines like it's trying to locate wifi networks, but NEVER locates one. I don't use it a ton anymore, but I like using it to back up my iPhone. Any ideas???
