Feb 18, 2016 7:20 PM in response to polopolaby rkaufmann87,The maximum amount of RAM a 2010 iMac can accommodate is 32GB, however you may not need that much. It is very rare when a user does need that much RAM. If you decide to upgrade the RAM only purchase quality RAM as iMacs are extremely sensitive to RAM. Two highly recommend sources commonly found on these forums are OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial.com.

Feb 18, 2016 7:31 PM in response to polopolaby babowa,Apple officially supports 16 GB; OWC (macsales.com) has tested them to 32 GB, so I'd get the RAM from them if I were to do it.
Edit: You might want to check these lengthy threads as there were problems with the 27" 2010's accepting 16 GB of third party RAM:
Problem with 16GB on 2010 iMac 27" i5 & i7.

Feb 25, 2016 8:31 AM in response to polopolaby MichelPM,Your iMac has to have an i5 or better quad core CPU to take advantage of more than 16 GBs of RAM.
If your iMac is only an i3 duo core model, your iMac is limited to 16 GBs of RAM.
