Q: Adding more memory

Hello!

Can I add more memory, have a turbo boost up and add storage to a MBP 15 inches mid 2012 (processor 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7, memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and 250GB storage)??

If I can, how can I do it?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), Mid 2012

The RAM in the Retina 2012 15-inch MBP cannot be upgraded because there are no RAM slots. The RAM you have now is soldered to the logic board.

If a non-Retina model, it has two RAM slots and can be unofficially upgraded to 16GB although the "official" max RAM is 8GB. Your mileage may vary and you must get the RAM from a vendor who has tested the ability of your computer model to run larger amounts of RAM that was possible when Apple engraved the specs in stone. I only use OtherWorld Computing RAM when I want to exceed Apple's outdated specs.

Turbo Boost is an Intel Marketing things and you already have it, it just seldom kicks in for real-world applications.

Depending on the MacBook's present hard drive specification, you could see some

performance gain by upgrading to a solid-state drive; some are better than others

and setting them up can be almost painless depending on the path taken...

Here's an example of SSDs that could improve performance; also install videos:

    Good luck!
