Q: Can't upgrade to El Capitan from 10.8

I'm trying to upgrade an old 2012 Macbook Pro from 10.8 to El Capitan.  I tried to download from App store, waited, left my computer and came back to the Recovery Mode screen??  Only thing it would let me do is Quit Recovery and reboot into my old 10.8.  Is there something else I should try??

Thanks

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

    Hi Canozzie11,

Thank for using the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your upgrade to El Capitan. If you continue to have issues with the download/install of El Capitan, you may find the information and steps outlined in the following article helpful. In particular, you may want to see if the installer is showing in your Applications folder, as noted here:

If you quit the installer instead of clicking Continue, you can open it later from your Applications folder. During installation, your Mac might restart several times. It then performs some initial setup tasks in the background. While those tasks are underway, activities such as using Spotlight or Mail might not seem as fast as they were before.
