Can't open URL links in Safari or Mail since upgrading to iOS 9.2.1

i upgraded my iPad mini 4 to iOS 9.2.1 and since then I have been unable to open links in Safari. I can open a webpage if I type in the URL, but I can't open a link within a webpage where the URL is contained in the link. This occurs on all web pages were the link goes to a different webpage. This means I can't open anything from a Google search.

i Have tried rebooting And fiddling around with the Safari settings. I have also tried changing my search engine but the problem is on all webpages not just google. It is also preventing me from opening URL links sent to me in an email.

THere is no error message the screen just freezes and I have to shut the ap down and reopen it to get it working again.

thus far I have avoided upgrading my iPhone for fear of having the same problem.

Go to Settings - Safari - Clear History and Website Data.

If this does not help, reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

I have the same problem with my iPad Air 2 after updating - can't open webpages in safari, or many web links in forums etc. If I press and hold a link in Safari (to open in a new tab) safari crashes. Press and hold to open in a new tab works in Chrome. Tried clearing cache etc, and resetting but the problem persists. I read elsewhere that Apple is aware of the problem, and working on a fix, but I've not read anything from Apple.

very strange, that nobody outside seems to take notice this massive problem:

1 hour ago it appears on the frontpage of a german newspaper online, now it is gone,

thanks, i really thought something was wrong with my brand new iPad Pro, but ... horray! It's not my devices fault:

occurred the first time: today

Here: iPad Pro 128 GB Cellular: iOS 9.3 - many links on safari (any links on mail) make the app crash/ are not working, no google links,

iPad Air 32GB Cellular : iOS 9.2 / tried afterwards with iOS 9.2.1 .... exactly the same problem

iPhone 6s 128 GB : no problems under iOS 9.2.1

(???)

((Mac OSX 10.11.4 no problems))

This is doing nothing to the problem:

deactivate Java Script ( suggested by support; but no changes + many websites need javascript, so when you turn it of, you win nothing!)

restart the device for a several times (same as before)

erasing website data in safari settings ( nope...)

reinstalling everything new ( doublenope)

i really hope my iphone and my NOTiOS Computers will stay alive and Apple will fix this supercrazy bug AsAP

and again, no one in this world (outside this forum) seems to complain (easter holidays, eaten to many eggs?)

Please Apple, read this, fix this, for me this is the worst bug on a mobile device ever, i am used to MacOSX bugs, when devices or programs are not working any longer after a superduper highly recommended update, but: "unimportant" Apps like Safari and Mail are committing suicide after clicking simple links?!

i don't understand this any longer, and NO! the support was NOT very helpful because at the moment nobody anywhere (expect a bunch of programers hopefully) seems to know what is going on...

Hello Q2K2012,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your question, I understand that hyperlinks are not behaving as expected after updating to iOS 9.3. We know how frustrating situations like this can be and we want to make sure your devices are working as expected.

iOS 9.3.1 was recently released. Performing this update should resolve this situation.

If hyperlinks don't open in Safari, Mail, or Messages after updating to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

Cheers!
