Q: How to access "other" of ipod shuffle

Hi

Good Day!

I'm using ipod shuffle 4th generation. One day, I attached my ipod to my office pc in order to recharge the device where itunes is not installed. Afterwards, when I tried to listen to songs I was told by an automated male voice "Please use itunes to sync....". Previously, a female voice used to say everything such as "battery low". Suddenly, it's changed out of the blue. Next, when I synced and added new songs I cannot seem to find my songs that was there before. However, I can see an "other" graph in the itunes when I plug-in my ipod to my laptop's usb. Perhaps, the songs that I had listened to can be gotten from that "other" portion / section. Unfortunately, I no longer have those earlier songs in my laptop that I used to have in my ipod. I cannot see any backup option in my itunes software. Is it possible for me to get those songs back?

Thanks a lot. Much obliged and appreciated. TC!

I think your shuffle has data corruption and needs a Restore using iTunes.  This erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Before doing a Restore, you can try using a general data recovery or data repair application, treating the iPod like a USB storage device.

I cannot see any backup option in my itunes software.

For iPods (that are not iPod touch), the songs you sync to the iPod should be in your iTunes library (which serves as the "backup").  It is risky to only have your songs on an iPod, because it can have data corruption, or get lost or broken.  If all of you songs are in your iTunes library, you can quickly recover after doing a Restore on the iPod (or getting a new iPod).  And then, back up your iTunes library data (along with the rest of your user data), in case your computer (or its drive) fails.
