Q: Why I cannot get any speed from Thunderbolt 2
I just got ThunderBay 4 from OWC and installed one OCZ TRION 100 480 GB SSD in it. I connected it to iMac 27 Retina.
I do not want to use RAID functionality, I just want to conect bunch of SSDs via fast link to my iMac.
Here are specs:
- Thunderbolt 2 speed is up to 20 GB/s
- OCZ TRION 100 480 GB SSD read/write speed is 500+ MB/s
I expect to see performance around 500 MB/s because slowest component is SSD, but when I run benchmarks I see about 125 MB/s write and 320 MB/s read speed.
Does anybody have an idea why ThunderBay 4 has such poor performance?
p.s. I contacted support, but they are useless - all they suggested is to buy SoftRAID software for another $175...
p.s.s. Moreover, the box is very noisy. I cannot keep it on the desk.
iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Substitute a b for B, and you will be closer.
The real speeds are 8 times slower than you think.
