Q: Backups regardless of updated files

I need to run both my standard RAID backup and a duplicate backup for the vault on a regular basis. The backups need to be automatically run on weekends so that both devices are in parity.

 

I know that Time Machine will alternate between target drives, but can it run a scheduled backup without there being any changes to the source files, or do I have to run a script to force a backup?

If you set the computer so that it doesn't sleep, Time Machine will backup hourly, alternating disks (as you posted). There is no need to schedule a backup, as it will happen automatically whether there have been changes made or not..
