I just doubled checked, and I'm running iTunes version 12.3.2.35.

I also get a popup window informing that there's a new version (9.2.1) of iOS for my iPhone; and asks me to either cancel, download, or download and install.

When I check my iPhone settings - software update; it reports: "iOS 9.2.1, Your software is up to date". More specifically, it lists Version 9.2.1 (13D15) under "About".

As far as I know, I was not affected by Error 53. However, I dropped my iPhone a couple of times and was experiencing some sound issues (one of which being the sound toggle got flipped), so I backed up and hard reset it and took it to my carrier (expecting either a replacement or repair). That was Feb 1st., I did not leave it for diagnostics, because I was leaving town on the 2nd.

So did do a full restore later that day. I wasn't prompted by the Error 53 at that point, and the restore completely successfully - all except, Tones. During a sync, iTunes reports that my iPhone is currently synced with another library on this same computer and that I would have to "erase" my iPhone if I want to sync my Tones. Maybe my Tones not syncing is related to the my IOS versions not "syncing"
