LG BP50NB40 Slim Portable Blu-ray/DVD Writer

I have the Blu-ray/DVD Writer listed above. At first it worked great at reading Blu-rays and was even able to write a couple of Blu-ray data disks. All of a sudden it quit recognizing Blu-rays. It will still read DVDs but now only ejects Blu-rays after a few seconds of attempting to read a Blu-ray disc. I did some searches and found where others had similar issues and tried those attempted fixes. None worked. I am using it on a 27" iMac from late 2013 with OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.3. I was not able to get it to work on other MacBooks either. The manufacturer was no help either. The said contact Apple. Any help? Thanks in advance.

My player worked for a few days and then quit reading and writing blu-ray. Would not read or write on any Apple or Windows computer after that. Currently getting frustrated with LG customer service since they think it is a computer problem. Reads DVD and CDs just fine. I had all the right software and actually read and played Blu-Ray movies as well as wrote 3 Blu-Ray data disks. Hope yours continues to work, but I believe I will never by anything LG again since their customer service is so poor.

I used this drive to rip a number of Blu-Ray films and TV series to my iMac and then into my AppleTV or other digital libraries. It worked flawlessly until Mac osSierra. Now none of my Macs will even recognize the drive. Since Apple has little to no enthusiasm for Blu-Ray and since LG has shown no enthusiasm with respect to supporting others on this forum, then I don't think any of us will be getting past the problem anytime soon.
