How do I record voice narration in Keynote?

I have the latest version (6.6.1).

Can I do voice narration in Keynote? Or will I need a third party software in order to add voice narration over my slides? My ultimate goal is make a YouTube video with automatic slides and narration.

To record a voice over:

  • connect a mic if there is not a built in one present
  • Apple menu > System Preferences > Sound > Input:
select the mic from the list and adjust the input volume slider until the indicator registers a level of about 80%
  • open the Keynote presentation and click on slide 1 in the navigator
  • go to: Play > Record Slideshow
  • click the red record button
  • after the countdown, press the spacebar each time you want Keynote to move to the next slide or animation
  • click the red record button to finish recording
  • press the escape key to exit record mode
  • playback and re-record if needed
