Home sharing is on. I have selected a folder of photos to view on Apple TV (second gen) . The folder shows on Apple TV but the pictures wont load. The apple TV and iTunes are up to date.

I understand a folder of photos will not load on your Apple TV. I would start with testing to see if a newly created folder will load on your Apple TV.
iTunes 12 for Mac: Play items in your iTunes library using Apple TV (2nd generation or later)
If the photos in the new folder load on your Apple TV and photos are not in subfolders in the old folder, try the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

THank you for your response. I unplugged the ATV then plugged it back in and now the pictures downloaded.
