Q: Does anyone have the ability to convert a 1969 file created on Appleworks to an Excel or Numbers spreadsheet.

I have a "spreadsheet" type document that was created in Appleworks in 1969.  Since that is an ancient program from a non-current operating system, I cannot open it.   Does anyone have the ability to convert this document for me to a modern file such as Numbers or Excel?

Please email me at ************

Thank you.

Try the spreadsheet module in Libre Office.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.

Do you mean 1989?  Appleworks was not in existence back in 1969 and the grandfather of all spreadsheets, Visicalc, was only released for the Apple ][ in 1979.

Give us more information about the file: its name, which computer and operating system it was created under, etc.

Thanks,  That should have been obvious but I am not used to using this support system and assumed someone would have to

    contact me more directly.

Libra Office does not support any Mac operating systems prior to OS 10.    Appleworks was the older Mac Operating system. Probably somewhere in the late 1990's or early 2000's.

actually I do not need to convert this file to a more modern spreadsheet.  I really only need to read or print the data that is on

    the Appleworks file.

Is anyone able to do that If I send them the file and then they can send me back the data.  This is raw data with no account numbers

    etc that require privacy.

    Thanks,

That is irrelevant. It runs on OS X, and it may be able to open the old file. But you don't have to try it if you don't want to. But your reply does not make any sense.

NNot being a Mac Guru I assumed since it said OS10 that was its limits. I was able to convert it after downloading the program.  Thank you.

Do not offer to send files to other users, they may not be what you think. Unfortunately the reality is that direct contact with other posters here is not safe, some have bad intentions.
