Feb 21, 2016 8:17 AM in response to arodasby Bob Timmons, how can I access the other airport express that are setup as access points using Airport Utility over WAN?
You can't. But, if you are on the same network as the other AirPorts, you can access them by typing in the LAN IP address for the AirPort and the device password, if you want to do it that way.
Let's say your "main" AirPort has a LAN IP address of 10.0.1.1, which it will if you are using Apple's default settings. So, another AirPort might have a LAN IP address of 10.0.1.8.
Open AirPort Utility
Click on the File menu and select Configure Other
Enter then LAN IP address of the AirPort
Enter the device password

Feb 21, 2016 9:16 AM in response to Bob Timmonsby arodas,Yes I understand that within the LAN you can even use app or airport utility to scan all airport devices and configure them. My issue is trying to do it over WAN. I have several networks setup and different locations using mulitple airports. So i need a way to not only access the main airport acting as a router, but the other airports on network that are acting as access points.
Thanks

Feb 21, 2016 9:27 AM in response to arodasby Bob Timmons,Sorry, but we have already said that you will only be able to access one AirPort over WAN if the other AirPorts are acting as wireless access points.
If you have the time, you could try to set up each AirPort as a separate router using a different IP address range, but whether or not this will work is open to question.

Feb 21, 2016 9:32 AM in response to Bob Timmonsby arodas,Setting up each airport as a router within a LAN is not really practical. Having different subnets in a residential environment is not a question about time, but a question of valid network topology. Is there no way then to access other access points just like you would do with any other router/ap brand? I find it hard to believe that you can do this with any other brand except Apple. And when you say "we" are you representing Apple tech support or just your personal experience and opinion.

"We" have answered your question. If you are hoping to get a different answer from Apple Support, then you will need to contact them. Expect to hear the same answer that we provided though......since Apple does not use a web based configuration utility for the AirPorts.

The direct access from WAN approach will not work.. exactly as Bob has indicated.
But of course there are always other ways to skin the proverbial cat.
What you will need is to remote access a computer.. and use airport utility on the computer in the local lan remotely to handle the setup.
The more professional way of doing this is not to use Apple airport as your main router. Use a brand that has VPN server ..the rest can be apple routers.
As you said.. other brands can do this.. because they are much more feature rich .. apple routers are designed for home network setup with most features removed from end user access.. if you wonder about it.. go into an apple store and ask what company supplies their wireless network.. it aint apple.
