iPhone 6s plus wifi disconnect after locking

I recently bought iphone 6s+ and running iOS 9.2.1..Whenever I lock (sleep) my iPhone, wifi automatically disconnects and when I unlock or press power button,it automatically connects..I dont think it is any kind of feature bcoz I am having delayed notifications due to this from apps like whatsapp, gmail etc..

Is it normal behaviour from iphone?

Android have 'keep wifi during sleep' option..I am missing that badly User uploaded file

Please help anyone..

P.S. battery saver mode is off..background app refreshing is on for all apps..I even tried reset all settings and network settings..what should I do?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.2.1, India

It’s actually quite simple. WMM APSD (Automatic Power Save Delivery) is a power saving feature featured on some wireless routers. It’s an option that allows the wireless chipset in smaller devices or mobile devices to turn on and off as needed. In theory it should improve battery life seing as your not running two radios. Yes it is true that WiFi saves more power than cellular, but that’s only when data is being transferred (downloading a large file, streaming video etc.) When your iPhone goes into sleep mode large amounts of data (usually) are not being transferred (think of just push notifications mainly) so WiFi turns off and cellular radio kicks in.
If you don’t want your iPhone to keep disconnecting while in sleep mode, go into your router and look for WMM APSD or something similar to power save mode under wireless settings and disable it. Should fix all your problems. ASUS routers tends to come with the option enabled. Also take a look into beamforming. This can sometimes knock off iphones. You may want try disabling those options as well.
Also, Android actually has an option to turn this on and off. I’ve owned every single Nexus, and I do recall under advanced WiFi options there is a (Stay connected to WiFi Always) option that you can change.

Abosolutely not true.

It's a router problem.

I had a router ADB and my iPhone stays ALWAYS connected to wifi even after 20 hours in standby.

Then I changed router and iPhone disconnect wifi after 2 minutes in standby.

Now I've an Airport Express and my 2 iPhones and my iPad stay ALWAYS connected to wifi.

It's a router problem!

Believe whatever you like. It doesn't change reality.

I have the same problem. iPhone 7 Plus. Mine sometimes doesn't reconnect until I turn wifi off and back on. On my phone. All the while, my wife's iPhone 6 stays connected constantly. Same router of course. So I highly doubt it's the router. If it's supposed to "sleep" than why doesn't my wife's phone do it. AND why do I have to disable then re enable wifi for it to work.

I just got the mifi Jetpack from Verizon and have an iPhone 5 with 8.4.1 and I want to keep both in the car and have the WiFi ready to go when I drive without touching either device and I can't seem to make it work. I've tried setting auto lock to never on iPhone and made changes to the settings on the Jetpack to never power down or sleep and it disconnects wifi after a while still. Did you ever find a solution?
