Q: My iPod isn't syncing with iTunes

So I recently got a new HP Laptop about 3 months ago. it has Windows ten and I got iTunes on it around Christmas time. I then got all my music copied from my iPod into the computer. the laptop did a few updates automatically and after that I noticed my iPod or iPad wouldn't sync. Nothing popped up on iTunes on my computer. I have the latest iTunes and restarted all my devices. The only thing that happens is my iPod and iPad get recognized by the computer but not iTunes. The iPod asks to trust the computer and after saying yes nothing more happens. I'm logged into my account in all the software. On the devices tab nothing shows up. Should I update the devices? On my older computer I tunes would sync to both my iPod and iPad and none of the software was up to date. What should I do?

The HP is HP Envy 2014 17.3 inch screen.

the older computer is a touchscreen gateway desktop with Windows 7.

IPad is the iPad mini 2.

ipod is the iPod 5 gen.
