Two Windows partitions after installing Boot camp?

I have a new Macbook Pro from 2015, with OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan.

I put the Windows 10 iso file in download folder, and installed it using Boot Camp assistant. After formatting the Bootcamp partition in the Windows setup guide, and finalizing the installation everything seems fine.

But.

When booting with alt-key to chose between Mac and Windows, I now have two Windows icons together with the Mac icon. One boots my installed Windows 10, and the other icon starts the Windows setup guide again. Why is this last Windows icon and option to boot the Windows setup still there?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

***QUICK FIX***

Hi,

I have encountered this issue too. I have a fix for everyone (or at least this is how it worked for me).

So what you have to do is to delete (also shread from trash) the ISO file you downloaded from the microsoft windows page.

You encounter two windows because one is the windows you have installed and the other is the installation file (i believe this was mentioned previously).

So just delete the file once you have partitioned you mac and used the ISO file in Bootcamp, then simply restart the mac and you will notice you have only one windows.

Hi there Jer2015,

It sounds like you are seeing an extra drive when you hold option and boot your computer, that will start the Windows installation again when selected. That sounds to me like you still have the USB drive plugged in with the ISO installation files on it. All you should need to do is unplug it from the computer and it should no longer be an option.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

Unfortunately that isn't the case. This is actually a bug in OSX Boot Camp. It's still unresolved by Apple. Unfortunately when you install Windows from Boot Camp but uninstall without Boot Camp, it will leave a Windows partition there that you cannot remove.

This is not a bug. If you use BCA, the remove must also use BCA, not Disk Utility. This is documented in Boot Camp: Remove Windows from your Mac .

If you have used DU to erase (not remove the partition), reformat it as FAT32 and retry the BCA method as shown in the link.

Not quite sure what I need to do next. I have both OSX and Win10 installed on my computer. I also have an extra Windows option in the boot up that I can choose. I'm trying to get rid of that.
