Q: iPhone 6s Plus iOS 9.2.1 is up-to-date but iMac has notified me and started to download a software update.

I have received a notification on my iMac that there is an update to iTunes for my iPhone 6s Plus but when I check my under settings/general/software update my iOS 9.2.1 software is up to date.

As this update is not a requirement it is now in my download queue and I have no way of removing it. When contacting iTunes support I am asked to supply a This new download is in my queue and I have no way of removing it since I do not have a purchase history order number I am unable to request help through Apple Support.

And suggestions or news about this new iTunes update for an iPhone 6s?

There was a fix released for error 53 (related to touchID replacements), which kept the same iOS version number (9.2.1) : If you see error 53 and your iPhone or iPad gets stuck on the 'Connect to iTunes' screen - Apple Support

If you don't want to update to it then does the 'pause downloads' button on your second screenshot not pause it, and if so can you then select/highlight the download on that screen and delete it ?

    King_Peguin,

Thank you for your prompt reply with the suggestions that you posted above but I am still having difficulties with this itouch ID replacement .

Following your instructions and after I have completed a force quit for iTunes, a shut down on my iMac and then a hard shut-down of my iPhone 6s Plus hoping that this action would alleviate my issue. It is after I plug the device directly back onto my iMac, I am still asked if I choose to accept the download which when accepted goes into my download queue. I have pressed pause and highlighted the listing I cannot delete it on my own from this screen.

I then proceeded to check back to my iPhone 6s Plus under settings/general/ up-date I am informed that everything is up-to-date with the iSO 9.2.1 version.

So does this mean that until the bug has been fixed and removed that I no longer be able to continue on with the summary section without preceding to complete iPhone 6s Plus update program?

Selecting/highlighting the download and pressing the delete button on your keyboard doesn't delete it ?

When did you originally download 9.2.1 onto the phone ? The fix for error 53 was released on, I think, last friday (Feb 19th) - Apple decided to release an updated version of iOS 9.2.1 for the affected phones (those with Touch Id and, I think, NFC chips) instead of, for example, calling it iOS 9.2.2

Not sure whether that new version of 9.2.1 only shows via a computer's iTunes, it might not show on directly on the phone as it has the same version number (I can't check as my phone is 5s, which I don't think were affected by error 53)
