If you are not seeing messages on your iPhone, Force Close the Messages app and restart your iPhone. If the messages are still missing, take a look at the Settings app on the iPhone. Under the Message History section, do you have Keep Messages set for 30 days, 1 Year or Forever? That may affect what messages you are currently seeing on your iPhone.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
The storage that you see may be attachments (documents, photos, videos) to messages that you have received. If you have an iCloud or iTunes backup of your iPhone you may be able to restore from a backup to get these messages back.
