Print problems with PDFs - Brother DCP 7010 L

Hi,

my printer does not want to print PDFs. I always get the error message "filter failure". The error message remains the same, independently from if I have the printer connected to my Airport or through USB. I have this problem only with PDFs. I can print without problems from WORD for example.

I installed the latest printer driver from Apple (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1843?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) but this did not solve the issue. The only way I can print is by ticking the "print as picture" in the advanced-settings but then the print-out results with low resolution.

Please, does somebody know how I can solve this issue? Thanks.
