Q: How sync photos to iPhone 6S from Photos on MacBook Pro?

Another issue that use to be so simple to do:

With old 4S phone and some past OS, choosing which photos to add to phone was super simple. Now with 6S and newest OS update, when I go to "sync photos", I have no options to choose the Photos app or and folders associated with it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

It should work the same or very close to how it has always worked, unless you have iCloud Photo Library turned on. See Sync photos from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes - Apple Support
When you get to the step of choosing the Photos app (in the section titled "If your photos are in an app") what are you seeing happen?
