Fuji Xerox Printer&Scanner offline frequently but actually it's still online

Hi,

I just bought a Fuji Xerox DocuPrint M225DW multi function Printer& Scanner, and downloaded the latest driver from Fuji's website and managed to install it and add it to System Preference->Printers&Scanners.

However, I found Printers&Scanners shows this printer goes offline frequently but actually the printer doesn't. It is still on the line and I can access its web page and other computer can use it.

I also could add it manually through its IP address in Printers&Scanners, in such case it's on line but the scan option will disappear.

I am not sure it's OS X EI caption's problem or the printer's driver's problem.

Could anyone give a clue about it?

The status of a printer is often determined by the OS using SNMP. What may be happening in your case is that the printer is entering into a low power mode and OS X is therefore unable to get a response/update. This same symptom occurred several years ago - from memory it was with Mac OS X 10.7. The workaround at the time was to modify the PPD to stop the status reporting or change the power settings on the printer.

If you can change settings in the printer then see if you can disable low power mode as a test to check if this is the cause.

Or, assuming that you don't scan that often, continue using the IP connection for printing (which you mention does not suffer the same symptom) and still have the Bonjour connected printer instance for when you do need to scan.
