iPhoto will not update after updating to El Capitain

I just upgraded my early 2009 iMac from Lion to El Capitain at the suggestion of Apple Support (due to iTunes being out of date).

When I try to open IPhoto: "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X El Capitan. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store."

When I go to the App store, it says this update is not available in US.

Now where are my 44,000 photos In iPhoto? Do I need to go back to Lion just to keep my photos and all the albums I spenT much labor organizing?

What do I do? HELP!!!!!

For iPhoto you need the current version 9.6.1 - if you do not keep your software up to date see Can't Update iPhoto because it not available in the App Store

But since iPhoto is not being supported and will quit working with some future OS update this would be a great time to learn Photos and switch to it - it has much better editing, system and iCLoud integration and most people once they learn it prefer it to iPhoto - and when you migrate your iPHoto structure is kept in Photos using albums and folders -- How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support
