Q: Has anyone been able to use the iMac as a monitor with a brand new MacBook Pro?

We bought a new 13" MacBook Pro and still have our old iMac monitor. It would be great to use the large size screen of the old, nearly dead iMac. Has anyone successfully done this?

Only certain (more recent) iMac models have the capability to be used as a display for another Mac.  That function is called Target Display Mode.  This document has more information, including the iMac models with the capability for Target Display Mode.
