Q: Desktop background changes when laptop turns off

Every time I turn my laptop off and then back on again, the background changes back to the default Yosemite background, rather than the one I had it set to before it was turned off. I have a 2011 Macbook Pro, but I don't understand why this keeps happening, I've checked all the settings for my background and it is all the same as before I upgraded to Yosemite. Please help.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Try moving this file to your Desktop, Use the Finder>Go>Go to Folder and copy and paste:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db

    Restart and reset the background.

If the above doesn't work, do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.desktop.plist.  Move the .plists to your desktop.

Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.

If the same, return the .plists to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.
