I have tried to update from the App Store but I get a message that I can't because either I am not the owner of the software... or that a different user owns it. My husband takes care of my computer so I believe that he is the culprit. How can I get this straightened out?

Hello Jill,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see you are getting a message that the app you are trying to update was purchased from a different account. This is likely because your husband downloaded the app using his iTunes Store account or his Apple ID. To update an app, you will have to log in to the account that was used to purchase the app.

"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled”

The apps installed on your Mac have updates available or accepted from the Mac App store, but you purchased them using an Apple ID that isn't currently signed in. Sign in using the Apple ID that you initially used to purchase the apps. If you're not sure which Apple ID was used, check to see if anyone else who uses your Mac accepted these apps.

Accept bundled apps using the Mac App Store

Before you can access a past purchase, you need to do the following:
Sign in with the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase. Use these steps to see which Apple ID you used to download an item.

Best regards.
