Q: Yosemite Installer not running on MacPro 6,1

My MacPro is currently on 10.9.5.

It's not an option for us to upgrade to the latest operating system as they come as many bits of software and hardware will only run on certain versions, hence I'm a couple of versions behind. El Capitan isn't usable by a lot of this software right now (our internal storage network and several of our finishing suites of software), so I can't use the Mac App Store.

We have company USBs with the installers for most of the modern Apple OS' on, and these get used all the time - there are a lot of computers here!

I got the 10.10 USB so I could upgrade my system, but the installer won't let me past the continue screen. I can click the button but nothing happens. Have copied the installer off the USB to the desktop and it still doesn't work.

I have 55GB of internal storage left so that can't be the problem (I think it needs 8GB?).

System specs:

Mac Pro - Late 2013

3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon e5

32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 ECC

AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

OS X 10.9.5

Any ideas would be great, thanks!
