Can I get a 60hz refresh rate via Thunderbolt on an UltraWide?

Community,

Loner T you out there? Lost ya... I currently am giving my son my older IPS monitor and am in the market. It is a struggle with so many options. I am currently looking at UltraWides and the documentation says they can go to 60hz via DP. I am currently demo'ing the 34UM95 with an OWC TB dock and I can get 50hz via the TB and HDMI cables but when I connect via TB to DP cable to the DP port I am getting 2560x1080.

I am at a loss... Is there a way to get 60hz somehow on an UltraWide? If not can I get 60hz via HDMI 1.4 off of my dock on a 27 inch? I MUST have TB port available for an outboard sound card (Apollo Twin) so I cannot use the TB port on the dock. I am unsure if they make TB monitors at the 27inch range.

Thanks!

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
