Q: I changed my ram and something is wrong
Hi there,
I am having troubles with my MacBook Pro. It's from early 2011 and it got REALLY slow recently. Everything seemed to be fine in general so I bought new Ram (2x4GB instead of the 2x2GB that were installed). I installed the ram a few hours ago and the Problem is that the computer now is super fast but it only works for a while to then suddenly restart itself. Chrome and Thunderbird are also crashing repeatedly, sometimes after working for a while, sometimes they crash at start.
I Tried to install El Capitan but I got the "an error occured" message 3 times already (I am still on yosemite because my computer was so slow and almost dead).
I ran a program called Rember and I got the following message:
"FAILURE: Data mismatch at local address 0x0000000175271d80
Actual data: 0x0000000175261d80"
Is it possible that something is conflicting with the new ram I installed, causing the system failure?
A note: I purchased a set of 2x4GB ram before and they didn't work at all - my MacBook Pro would just keep on restarting. Now it's different because the computer works for a while (about 30 min at a time).
I hope someone can help me solve this issue.
Thank you
MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
