Wrong DCIM Folder creation date

I am trying to import some photos from my phone (6S Plus) to my PC through USB. But I am not able to see any photos in the DCIM folder. All I see is blank thumbnails with the image name. If I try to open any of them I get an error message which says "Unable to load file". When I go to the root DCIM folder I see two folders 100Apple and 101Apple and the created and modified date is showing up as 12/31/1969 for both folders. Appreciate any help to resolve this.
