Feb 23, 2016 6:47 PM in response to GavinXby Shane Ross,We really can't say unless you give us a camcorder type. But know that many, if not most current or future cameras won't interface directly with FCP 7, as it was discontinued 5 years ago, and hasn't kept current with camera tech and compatibility. Pretty much all current and future cameras will be tapeless, shoot to cards or hard drives of some sort, so no cables are needed. Just a way to connect the card or drive to the computer. But then the FCP Log and Transfer might not recognize most of these new formats. AVCHD is a standard, but a standard with many different variations. So newer AVCHD cameras won't work with FCP. DSLRs as well...no way to directly import.
But there are so many different camera types that shoots so many different sorts of formats, there's no way to answer this without knowing what the cameras are. But most likely you'll have to convert the footage outside of FCP, to ProRes, in order for FCP to import and work with it. What third party apps? Can't say until you give a camera model type.
