GarageBand plugins

*I really don't know much about the subject so bear with me please*

I downloaded some plugins (Soundmagic Spectral, SonEQ, Podolski) to my macbook pro for GarageBand 10.1.0. recently, but can't figure out how to install them. I download the plugin as a ZIP archive, and once I unzip it, it produces a .pkg file. Once I double click the .pkg file, it goes through an installation process, but then nothing else happens. I have been reading up on how to install plugins to GarageBand, and it looks like I am supposed to be getting a .dmg file and then I can place it in the appropriate folder to have it visible in GarageBand.

If someone could please just talk me through what I'm supposed to do/what I'm doing wrong, I'd really appreciate it.

Similar I get a lot it seems if I restart it helps. Then on the other hand I get a device in finder and I have no idea what to do.Try Klanghelm and audio damage, blue cat, and shattered glass audio they all have free plugins which install nicely.On Apple

I'm having a similar problem with GarageBand not recognizing my AU plug in files. I've even gone as far as to uninstall and reinstall.

It sounds to me like you SHOULD all set. Running a .PKG file is the installer, same as if you had gotten it on a .DMG (disk image).

I know it's not much help, but you did everything correctly.

Sounds like the AU plugins have been installed correctly. Go to Garageband Preferences and make sure that AU Plugins are checked under the Audio/MIDI tab. You should be able to assign a plugin to a new software instrument track by showing the Smart Controls window. You might have to expand the window up a bit to see all the interface.

Did all of the above. I have ONE instrument plug in that's not working: Xpand!2 by Air Music Tech. Driving me nuts.

Lee, I was also unable to get the Xpand!2 AU to load in Garageband 10.1.0 under OS X El Capitan 10.11.3.

I have a test partition on my hard drive with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and it DOES load correctly there in Garageband 10.1.0.

I'm not certain where the problem might be at this point. Sorry about that.

If you guys didn't get this fixed yet, the following video fixed the issue for me.. it worked for 6 or 7 different plugins that otherwise did not show up, doesn't seem to work for the Podolski but I didn't really troubleshoot that one.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5zSYVdJfZ4
