Q: safari not asking for permission to send push notifications after fresh Yosemite install.

I just downgraded back to Yosemite and seem to be having trouble receiving push notifications.  Safari doesn't ask to allow ay web sights, such as Ebay or Facebook, to send notifications.  I tried trashing the contents of ~/Safari folder.  I was on a site that you click a button and the site supposedly sends push notification.  I can not find the site now only the most recent history is cleared after deleting that folder.  The site said that I denied the push notification.  When I unchecked "allow web sights to ask for permission to send push notifications" the web sight said that notification was pending. I'm running Safari 9.0.3 on OS X 10.10.5

OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Safari/Preferences/Notifications - is the box at the bottom left Allow websites to ask for permission to send push notifications checked?

    Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

    Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

Thank you for your replies however they did not sole my problem.  I was able to correct the problem by dragging the following files from the ~/Library/Safari folder of my backup El Capitain installation to the new Yosemite installation:

    Folder:RemoteNotifications

    UserNotificationPermissions.plist

    Configurations.plist.signed

I feel that this is safe to do because I believe I'm running up to date Safari on both systems.
