ipod touch CANNOT SYNC with itunes

Question

I already have the new version of itunes on my macbook, but whenever i plug my ipod touch it says

ipod cannot be used because it requires a newer version of itunes

i already have a itunes 11.4 update

i have no problem syncing my iphone 6, but my ipod touch won't sync. help please

i have already reset my ipod, but it still won't work

HELP!

iOS 9.2.1 requires at least iTunes 12.3 and that requires OSX of at least 10.8.5.

Any Mac that can be updated to 10.8.5 can also go the latest,10.11, which is free. To upgrade
